| NIPHT are developing a range of kits that allow anyone to grow decorative bioluminescent mushrooms at home or in the garden. We have over 10 years of experience in growing bioluminescent fungi; our strains are fast growing, bright glowing and consistent performers. The mushrooms do not require sunlight to grow, however low levels of ambient light helps to induce fruiting. The fungi should be kept at temperatures of 20-25 Celcius and out of direct sunlight. Usually mushrooms can be stimulated by a drop in temperature, watering and increased humidity. Six different species are currently being tested for their ease of cultivation and light output. The first available will be Panellus stipticus, which produces little non-edible mushrooms that glow for several weeks! Complete kits are currently under development. Full instructions will be supplied.
DISCLAIMER:
Luminous fungi products are for decorative/educational purposes only.
CAUTION: bioluminescent fungi are non-edible and may be toxic if eaten. Like many ornamental plants, bioluminescent fungi should never be consumed and it is advisable to wash hands after handling. Although none of the bioluminescent species have been reported as deadly, they will probably make you sick. Some people are allergic to spores, and/or mushrooms.
